Top 5 Communication Apps Performance in UAE for Q2 2022

The second quarter of 2022 saw significant activity in the communication app segment in the United Arab Emirates. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top 5 communication apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

WhatsApp Business experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at around 138K in mid-May and ending the quarter with approximately 82K downloads in the last week of June. Active users showed a steady increase, growing from 1.48M at the start of the quarter to about 1.73M by the end of June.

Vava VPN saw a notable rise in weekly revenue, starting with just a couple of dollars at the beginning of April and reaching around $123 by the end of June. Weekly downloads spiked in late May at approximately 143K before settling down to around 43K by the end of June. Active users also increased, peaking at roughly 162K in late May before declining to around 109K towards the end of the quarter.

Snapchat had a varied performance in terms of revenue, with a significant increase to $411 in the last week of June. Download numbers saw a high of roughly 150K in early May, with a slight dip to around 57K by the end of June. The app maintained a strong active user base, starting at around 2.16M and ending the quarter at approximately 2.39M.

Messenger showed a moderate increase in revenue, reaching about $409 in the first week of June. Downloads fluctuated, peaking at around 70K in early May and stabilizing at approximately 61K by the end of June. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at about 2.77M and ending at around 2.81M.

imo-International Calls & Chat generated consistent weekly revenue, with a peak of approximately $5.9K in early April. Downloads remained steady, averaging around 55K per week. Active users showed some fluctuations, starting at around 3.67M and ending the quarter at approximately 3.58M.
